Review 12/16/2009
I agree with Gary B. 100%. I had the same EXACT problem with my iPhone 3G. I turned my phone in for a physical defect of the screen developing hairline cracks which would be a PHYSICAL defect, and after fully inspecting it(or they at least had ample opportunity at my expense of no service) they did not checkmark physical abuse and misuse, they did not checkmark unauthorized repair, or any of the other preprinted warranty exclusion reasons..... they checkmarked the box "Liquid Submersion Indicators have been tripped indicating damage." And again, with Gary, that is all they are. Chemically treated tape strips. If you breathe on your phone too heavy, they will turn from white to red. And unless you know exactly what you are doing, this is not typically "consumer inspectable" during initial purchase or otherwise. Anyone can shrink wrap a product and call it new or whatever, its not that difficult technology anymore. Now that I'm done with the stray tangent, all honesty, no matter what the problem, I put an %80 percent bet that your product will be returned to you so you can pay them MONEY instead of getting legal work done in accordance with THEIR warranty. Liquid Submersion is Apple's "not-so-secretive" way of VOIDING THEIR warranty contract. The other 47 pages of warranty in 12 different languages is completely garbage. Basic point they convey is: if your iphone or ipod touch has been in ANY type of humid environment, it will trip the indicators, and your out 200-700 bucks even if totally unrelated warranty issues occur. I still have ALL my paperwork and proof of about everything. Im not much of a leader. I am a follower. So if ANYONE knows of any class-action suit against Apple, please, RSVP! I wanna be part of it and as active as I can. They know they did wrong, and I dont think I would be in it for the money. I would enjoy an official statement of admitting wrongdoing, they are a corrupt company intent on stealing money for less than aqdeuate products, and an apology.... on CNN ABC NBC ESPN Comedy Channel, Sci Fi Channel.... heck all 999 satellite channels... and to finally honor warranty service... before I will be satisfied and content! Thanks!
