Apple is a great company. I have never had any issues with my apple products and that includes my oldest power mac which is 13 years old and still running as a print server. I also have a first generation imac which is still kicking and gets daily use from my mom as a web surfing machine. I actually stepped on my macbook pro by accident while getting out of bed and if it were any other laptop the case would probably be cracked. Who says you don't need a machined aluminum case? For everyone who rips on apple because of the price, believe me you get what you pay for. Take a look at the list of vendors that make up the parts for an apple computer: hitachi, marvell, broadcom, pioneer, intel, nvidia, samsung, synaptics, etc. The two times I've had to deal with apple were when the power adapter for my powerbook titanium G4 died and I also had an issue with the airport card in that same powerbook. The power adapter was replaced at no charge, as was the airport adapter. My sister recently had the power supply go out in a 2005 imac, which is now out of warranty, and when she brought it in for service, apple determined the part was defective and replaced it at no charge. In my opinion, not only are apple's products superior, but so is their customer service. Their are a couple of negative reviews here, but take them with a grain of salt, for in my experience working technical support people who are frustrated tend to exaggerate.
