I was led to believe this was a local company and quoted $115/hr. Hired them on November 29. The crew was obviously inexperienced, showed a total lack of regard for my belongings and the lead guy was dishonest and rude.
The experience began with the lead rushing the signing of documents with no explanation of their contents and no time to read them. When I asked if there were any other charges besides the hourly rate, he replied "No." His crew repeatedly dropped furniture and banged up the walls (at both houses). They were asked no less than four times from three different people to be more careful but they simply ignored us. Most notably, one of the granite cup holders on my theater chairs was broken and found in pieces outside our front door. Property is missing. They even took sodas out of the refigerator located in the garage (WITHOUT our permission) and tossed the empty cans on the lawn!
After loading the truck a second time, the lead requested payment in the amount of $2,250 for an 8 hour move! When I questioned the additional charges and recalled his answer to my question earlier in the day, he simply pointed to the contract and refused to unload the truck until I paid him, which I did reluctantly.
After repeated damage to the walls, my wife again cautioned the lead about the damage but he responded to her with profanity. He asked me to sign an acknowledgement that suggested all items were delivered to my satisfaction and when I refused (for obvious reasons), he responded by saying "If I didn't sign, I would not be allowed to submit an insurance claim." Finally, he refused to move the washer/dryer and left numerous other items behind, which we had to move ourselves.
This is a classic "bait and switch", callous disregard for customer property and customer verbal abuse that should not be tolerated by any reputable organization.
We hired a painting contractor to paint our home prior to the move-in. Much of that work was damaged by the movers.
