THIS COMPANY "LOST" THREE BOXES CONTAINING GOODS WORTH OVER $3,300.00. Two boxes were 4.5 cubic ft - one, containing 34 pairs of shoes - and one 3.0 cubic ft box.
There were numerous issues with this company, not the least of which was an estimate of $1400 vs. a final cost of $2300+. I had faxed the company my inventory sheet from my prior move, and it was not given consideration in providing my estimate.
The day of the move, my drivers could not be located. At 4pm, I finally received a call from the driver, saying they would arrive at 7pm. The driver and his "crew" (of one) arrived at 7pm and did not finish until 1:30am. This was for a one bedroom apartment with no major appliances. 6.5 hours is an excessive amount of time and they disrupted my apartment complex all evening. The driver and worker wanted me to pay $100 cash for a "long carry" - which it was not; clearly, it needing to be "cash" translated into it becoming a tax-free tip for these workers. When the one worker learned he was not receiving this money, he started yelling at me and was sent to the truck by his foreman. I should also mention that when I offered beverages to the workers, they both declined, but when I stepped over to a neighbors and returned, I found the one man picking through my refrigerator for a beverage.
My belongings were supposed to remain on one truck until reaching the final destination. I later learned they changed trucks once, were unloaded at a warehouse in Miami - where they apparently sat for 3 days, and eventually made it onto the truck making its way to my new location. There was a Tuesday - Tuesday turnaround when I was supposed to have my things by Saturday.
There was one driver of the truck that reached my new home. He was met by someone local to help him unload. They also recruited another tenant from my new building to help, paying him $20. The driver unwrapped my 300# television while it was still on the truck, and he broke off the bottom corner of its housing.
I have yet to receive any compensation from this company. The claim I filed was met with an offer of $125, $90 of which was only because the driver noted the television. I will be fighting this to the best of my ability and will pursue civil court action.
If you value your money and your belongings, PLEASE DO NOT USE FL MOVERS & STORAGE. This was a truly devastating and violating experience.
