Review 9/29/2009

I am currently having an extremely bad experience with Access America, and am sorry that I don't have a choice of zero stars below. I signed up to cover a trip scheduled for the end of June 2009 for 2 people. I emailed the form 1 day before the "pre-existing" clause would take effect. My friend's 92 year old mother died 2 months before our trip to Provence, France, and because my friend's 96 year old father was lost and depressed, his doctor said my friend could not leave the country. The doctor filled out Access America's form, we filed all the necessary information. Their response was that they didn't have the information and basically asked for everything a 2nd time. They also said that her father's fragility was because of the pre-existing condition of her mother's illness and death! My friend spoke to their customer care department, and was told that we had a year to complete the filing of the claim.
Then, when we didn't refile everything, they closed out our case. Take note, please, that NOW we are only 3 months from the scheduled date of our trip!
I have contacted them with a certified letter, and have been ignored.
It appears they are terrible at insuring, but good at taking your money.
